Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story combines family football scholarships and volunteering for the community. He was the youngest son of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Semon. They took care of him at their farm in Eufala. In football, he was alongside three brothers in Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the USA. For three seasons as a starter Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. As a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third time in 1975. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in educational studies. Lee Roy was involved in volunteering for ten hours per week while he attended college. After graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa and spent the next nine years playing for Tampa's Buccaneers. Three times he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. The first position he held was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 outstanding youngsters across the nation. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6-2. When he was playing college, he commanded the team of 1975. In 1993 he was appointed as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame through the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
