April Ross
April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball players to win medals at many Olympics. Alix klineman, who is playing for the first time in Tokyo's Olympics and will attempt to win her third medal. Ross wants to achieve more than just her first Olympic medal. There is a chance that this is her only opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. However, she's convinced that top prizes are in reach. Ross was quoted in NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your highest, and even do well, we'll get the gold. Also, it's an issue of luck. Ross was born on the 22nd, 1982 in Costa Mesa California. She lived there with her family. Ross's athletic endeavors began at Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of sports. She competed in basketball and track in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements in her time as a college athlete. While she did well at indoor volleyball, it was clear that her skills were above normal. The college bio says that she was an outside hitter, middle blocker, as well as a setter during her volleyball career in high school. In recognition of her work, she was honored as the 1999 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. Also, in 2000 she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the Year for volleyball. Ross is playing with Klineman since 2017 but her beach game was well-established long before the year. It's true that she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments as well as one of her partners was a renowned volleyball player. In the period 2007 until 2013, she was a team together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the 2009 World Championships. They won a Silver Medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. They were defeated for the gold medal by the legendary duo of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a college player for USC Trojans before her pro career. She played during high school, and even some years before she hit the beaches as a professional. Ross had an impressive run in the college. As a freshman in 2000 she fought her way to Pac-10 and NCAA All-American Freshman of Year awards and earned an All-American. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans to reach the Final Four. The Trojans were devastated by a tragic incident in her second year, but she went on to be an All-American again. In her last two years in the Trojans program, she coached the team to win a national championship each year. In 2003-2004, she was named the best female volleyball player at a collegiate level in the US through The Honda Sports Award. Ross was an international relations major at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter make it to the top of the beach volleyball ladder. Ross lost her mother to breast cancer in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. But she still keeps her mother in her heart. Margie remains an inspiration both on and off of the shore.
